Spectral is a Textpattern template created for the Textplates competition. It was designed to be very basic, but still beautiful. I also wanted to do some light text on a dark background (easier on the eyes).
As opposed to the Prayer Garden template submitted earlier, Spectral adds nothing but images and CSS to your base install. Four images and one CSS file to be exact. Of course, if you want to spice things up a little bit, there are plenty of extras included in the zip for you to choose from.
It doesn’t stop there, though. To show how easily personalized this theme is, I offer you stylesheets in 7 basic colors with several header images for each color. Click the styleswitching links at the top (which do NOT appear in the template) to see some basic combinations. When you download the template yourself, mix and match. Many images work well with several (or all) colors. In fact, several colors work well on the same page (I left this out for simplicity). Finally, find an image of your own to make your site truly yours.
The steps are easy:
- Download and uncompress the zip file.
- Copy the /images directory to your textpattern /images directory (via FTP).
- Copy the contents of the appropriate css file over your default style in the Presentation tab.
- When you are comfortable, switch in different colors and different images (keep in mind the placement and color of the h1 and h2 elements may need adjusting).
